2006 - Finalist in Education Category of ForeWord Book Awards for Classrooms that Spark!

Classrooms that Spark! has won the 2006 Learning Magazine Teachers' Choice Award!

Learning Magazine's 2006 Teachers' Choice Award winners are decided upon by evaluating each product in the classroom.

What is the history of the Teachers' Choice Awards?
In 1994, Learning Magazine introduced the first Teachers' Choice Awards program. Over the years, the program has grown to become one of the most recognized and prestigious award in the educational market. For the 12th annual program, 67 winners were chosen based on their scores from the evaluations done by a panel of teachers across the country.

How are the products evaluated?
The product is evaluated on quality, instructional value, ease of use, and innovation.

How are the winners selected?
Each product is evaluated on its own merit. Only those products that meet the testing teachers' stringent standards are chosen to receive a Teachers' Choice Award.

What makes Teachers' Choice different from other educational awards programs?
Teachers' Choice is the only awards program that is exclusively judged by teachers in the classroom. What better way to evaluate a product's educational value than in real-life use?

McDonald, Survival Kit for New Teachers is an expert, advice-packed, 416-page compendium filled from cover to cover with tips, tricks and techniques for the novice K-12 classroom instructor concerning everything from landing a teaching job; to undercutting classroom discipline problems before they turn ugly; developing a reliable method for grading students and recording those grades; adapting to and incorporating technology in the classroom, and a great deal more. A point-by-point and extremely practical resource, Survival Kit for New Teachers is easy to read, easy to use, and one of the most important additions any Teacher College librarian could make in behalf of graduating students with their newly acquired teaching certificates who are to be soon confronted with the real world experiences of teaching children in today's public and private school systems.
